Viel Praxisbezug im Studiengang Management of Creative Industries

Wie wird eine Internet-Konferenz organisiert? Wie arbeiten interdisziplinäre Teams bei der Entwicklung von Computerspielen? Wie wird eine professionelle Ausstellung konzipiert? Was ist bei einer Social-Media-Kampagne zu beachten? Fragen und Herausforderungen wie diese werden im englischsprachigen Studiengang Master of Creative Industries (MCI) an der bbw Hochschule Berlin bearbeitet und praxisnah vermittelt.

Der Studiengang richtet sich an Bachelorabsolventen und ambitionierte Professionals aller Bereiche der Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft. Von den Kreativschaffenden werden heute marktwirtschaftliche Kompetenzen verlangt. Kreative Leistungen gewinnbringend zu verwerten, ist gerade für junge Start-ups essenziell, um auf dem Markt bestehen zu können. Diese wichtigen Kompetenzen und Fähigkeiten vermitteln Professoren mit umfassender Praxiskenntnis. Mit Modulen aus den Bereichen Wirtschaft, Management, Kreativ- und Agenturwesen wollen sie die Absolventen fit für die Bewältigung anstehender Herausforderungen machen und Führungspositionen in der Kreativwirtschaft sichern. Der Master of Creative Industries (MCI) kann berufsbegleitend absolviert werden, sicher einer der größten Vorteile dieses Studiengangs, passend zum Arbeitsalltag und Lebensrhythmus der Unternehmen der Creative Industries. Die Vorlesungen finden ausschließlich freitags und samstags statt.

Sicherung des Praxisbezuges durch den Fachbeirat Kreativwirtschaft
Beiräte übernehmen die Aufgabe, den Praxisbezug der Studienmodule fachlich zu sichern. Sie beraten die Hochschulleitung bei der (Weiter-)Entwicklung von Studienangeboten, bereichern die Lehre durch Gastvorlesungen und –vorträge und beobachten Trends der Kreativwirtschaft, um den Studiengang auf dem neuesten Stand zu halten.

Professoren und Dozenten mit vielfältigem Erfahrungsschatz
Die hohen Praxisstandards des Master-Studienganges sichern auch die Professoren und Lehrkräfte. Sie kommen in der Regel aus der Wirtschaft und betreiben meist noch neben ihrem Lehrauftrag eigene Firmen oder sind in Teilzeit angestellt. Der Ankerprofessor im MCI-Master-Studiengang, Prof. Dr. Malte Behrmann, stammt als international anerkannter Branchenexperte direkt aus der Kreativwirtschaft. Er bringt seine Erfahrungen als Rechtsanwalt aus der Gaming-Industrie ein, als ehemaliger Geschäftsführer Politik des GAME Bundesverbandes sowie als Generalsekretär der European Games Developer Federation (EGDF), Malmö / Helsinki. „Ich freue mich, dass wir unseren Studiengang durch unseren Beirat und unsere Lehrkräften mit starkem Rückhalt aus der Praxis starten können. Dieser holistische Studiengang ist ein Novum für die ganze Branche“, sagt Prof. Dr. Behrmann.

A lot of practical relevance within the Master of Creative Industry at bbw university of applied science

How do you organize an internet conference? How do interdisciplinary teams work together within the development of computer games? How do you conceive a professional exhibition? What are important key figures for a social media campaign? Questions and challenges like this are explored and discussed in the courses of the English speaking master’s program “Master of Creative Industries” (MCI) at bbw university of applied sciences in Berlin

The course is directed to people with a Bachelor’s degree and ambitioned professionals from every area of the culture and creative industry. Competences of market economy are expected from creative professionals. Especially for young start-ups it is essential to be able to sell creative services in a profitable way so they can retain in the market. Those important abilities and skills are taught by professors with a wide practical orientation. The graduates leave the university as fit specialists in modules from the fields of economy, management and creative and agency systems. The MCI can be completed extra-occupationally, which surely is one of the biggest advantages of this course, just right for the way of life in the creative branch. The courses will only take place on Friday and Saturday.

Assurance of the practical relevance with the Creative Economy Advisory Board

The advisory board of the MCI functionally ensures the practical relevance of the modules. They advise on the university administration in order to further develop the range of courses. Furthermore they enhance the doctrine by providing guest lectures and observing the newest trends of the creative industries.

Professors and lecturers with a various pool of experience
The high standard of the Master’s course is assured by the professors and lecturers. They have a versatile economic background and are self or part-time employed in addition to their teaching activity. The head professor of the MCI-course, Prof. Dr. Malte Behrmann brings along his experience as lawyer from the gaming industry and as Secretary General of the European Games Developer Federation (EDGF) in Malmö and Helsinki: “I am delighted that we can start our course assisted by an advisory board and instructors with such extensive practical experience.
